Grimsby football coach CHRIS PARKER landed a job in South Africa shortly before the start of the World Cup. Parker, 50, left his home in Bargate to work in Cape Town as an investment advisor for the De Veres Group. Here is his latest World Cup diary.

THE bars and clubs on the V & A Waterfront here in Cape Town were packed with fans for England's last 16 showdown with Ger many.

I watched the game in a bar alongside many English fans who now live and work here in South Africa. There were a number of German fans in the bars too and the atmosphere was fantastic.

The talk before the game was of the German side's work-rate and the quality of their movement.

If anyone was in any doubt about the Germans' aspirations, the following 90 minutes firmly established them as genuine contenders for the World Cup.

It was terribly disappointing to concede to a simple route-one punt. Barry was out of position and Ozil moved away taking Terry with him, this left a huge gap for the keeper to punt the ball into. Upson found himself on the wrong side of Klose and was unable to stop the frontman firing home.

The German fans celebrated wildly and, for them, the day was just beginning. The post-game stats revealed Replica Baume & Mercier Watches that England had more shots on goal, but the realisation that we simply weren't good enough hit home after the worst 90 minutes I've experienced since Sex and the City 2 was released.

Subsequently, watching Iniesta and Xavi surely makes every English supporter realise how far short we are in world terms.

The Spanish keep the ball. They pass and move at various degrees of pace, but without the ball the opposition can cause them no damage.

After the game I went over and chatted to a few of the Germans.

They were slightly embarrassed about the 'ball over the line incident' but I was stressing that they were clearly the better side and they deserved their victory.

Replica Longines Watches I'm attending the quarter-final in Cape Town tomorrow between Argentina and Germany. I'm really looking forward to seeing two of the tournament's most exciting teams. Which team do I support? The simple answer is neither.

Nevertheless I am really looking forward to seeing Messi, Ozil, Schweinsteiger and co perform.

Some of my German colleagues have been pressing me to sell my ticket to them, but they've no chance. Not many of us get the opportunity to attend a game of this magnitude and I can't wait.

Finally, the games have been disruptive for business and certainly the director responsible for our business in Africa was delighted that South Africa and England went out.

He is desperate for things to get back to normal. Mind you, he knows little about football. Afrikaans egg-chaser!
