Peter Wicks, honourable secretary of the Cornwall branch of MNDA thanked the club for its brilliant fund-raising in a difficult recession for Cornwall.
Chris and Adrian Bird, David and Matthew Allen and Nigel Bersford took part in the fishing marathon in August last year. David, one of the club's leading fund-raisers, lost his mum, Doreen Allen, to motor neurone disease more than two years ago.
Mr Wicks explained to the club committee, which included junior member Guy Sweet, that it remains an incurable disease which kills people in Britain every day.

The money and other fundraising will help provide essential equipment for sufferers of the disease, including lightwriters, disabled aids, hoists, lifts, washing facilities and support to their families by six trained volunteers.
